A great darkness,
Has fallen over me,
That I just can’t escape,
Feeling like a walking mistake,
Day to day life trapped,
In the deepest snowscape,
Grey, dark, and gloomy,
Dark thoughts loom above,
A grey cloud overwhelming,
With no opening for blooming,
Disengaged from the world,
Enraged by people who surround,
Muddled with mud,
I can’t see who or what’s important,
Including a family, very near,
Whom, I’m supposed to be strong for,
But so blinded from it all,
I just can’t focus,
Stress, anger, lust, and hate,
Consume me, hypnotizing me,
Telling me, “I’m just a waste,”
Calling out for help,
Though no one can hear,
But why would they,
I’m just another person,
Passing in the street.

Who is this man I see
Staring back at me
A stranger wearing my face
Unrecognizable, unshakable,
A man once full of light
Now someone I don’t recall becoming
The weight he carried
Shattered the glass
Pieces falling endlessly
Years of self-confidence
Rinsed down the drain
Shame fills the space
Where pride once stood
Facing a world
He was never prepared for
Footsteps fade behind him
Disappearing in seconds
No way back
The bags he carries
Linger for days
Blurring the vision
He once dared to dream
Turning into a nightmare
Dancing through his head
The criminals around him
Trust drained like an empty account
He went bankrupt on belief in others
Cowardly faces
He once called home
Stole his life
He thought. Was his,
The unrecognizable reflection
Is someone he never knew
Shatter the mirror
Let it fall uncontrolled
Who cares if his hands bleed.
He picks up the pieces
Now rearrange the reflection
Into someone he can be.
A new version of me.
